Frequently Asked Questions

How do I add an item?

Tap the scan button and point your camera at the product. Still Good reads the barcode to identify the item, then the printed expiry date to set when it runs out, in a quick two-step flow. A confirm screen always appears so you can check or correct anything before saving. No barcode, or no clear date? You can type the name and pick the date by hand.

The barcode was not recognised

Some products, especially loose produce, have no barcode, and some are not in the Open Food Facts database yet. Type the name once and Still Good remembers it, so the next time you scan that barcode it fills in automatically. You can review these in Saved Products in Settings.

The expiry date scanned incorrectly

Printed dates come in many formats and can be misread in poor light or on shiny or creased packaging. The confirm screen always shows the date Still Good read, and it updates to the newest confident reading while you hold the date in view, so you can check it before saving. Tap the date to correct it, or type it in by hand. Numeric dates such as 31/10/26 are the most reliable.

Why does Still Good ask for camera access?

The camera is used to scan barcodes and printed expiry dates when you add an item. The image is processed on your device and is never saved or sent anywhere. You can also add items by hand without the camera.

My reminders are not appearing

Make sure Still Good is allowed to notify you: Settings, then Notifications, then Still Good, then Allow Notifications. Also check the reminder lead time in the app’s settings so reminders arrive when you expect them.

I keep the same product in two places

Still Good tracks each location separately. If you have the same item in the fridge and the freezer, each keeps its own count and its own expiry date, so taking one from the fridge only changes the fridge.

What happens when I open something?

Mark an item as opened and Still Good re-estimates its expiry from the opened shelf life, and may raise the urgency for perishable items like dairy, meat, and fish.

Is there a widget?

Yes. Still Good has a home-screen widget that shows what is expiring soon. Long-press your home screen, tap the plus button, search for Still Good, and add it.

What languages does Still Good support?

Eight: English, German, French, Spanish, Italian, Portuguese, Dutch, and Greek. The app follows the language you choose in Settings, and the scanner reads printed month names in all of them.

Is my data private?

Yes. Everything stays on your device. See our full Privacy Policy.
